What is sign eviota?

Sign eviota is a small, colorful genus of goby fishes that are found in coral reef ecosystems throughout the Indo-Pacific region. They are known for their vibrant patterns and bright colors, which include stripes, spots, and sometimes even neon hues. Sign eviota gobies are typically less than an inch long and live in close association with coral heads and other structures. They feed on small crustaceans, plankton, and other tiny prey that they can pick off the reef. Due to their small size and elusive nature, sign eviota gobies are not commonly observed by divers or snorkelers, but they are beloved by aquarium enthusiasts for their striking appearance. Their scientific name, eviota, means "alive" or "lively" in Greek, which aptly describes their energetic and active nature.
